Boutique Wines Asia with The Best Wine in the World - May 2014

CVNE’s Imperial Gran Reserva 2004, distinguished with the title of Best Wine in the World in 2013 by the Wine Spectator Magazine, is now available in Boutique Wines Asia. CVNE is currently the market leader in Spanish wine.

CVNE history dates back to 1879, and since then that has been one of the flag-bearers for high quality Spanish wine. Their family passion for winemaking combined with modern techniques is what allowed CVNE to be the market leader in Spain.

Being the winery’s flagship wine, Imperial saw its status being reinforced by receiving the distinction of the number 1 wine of the Top 100 Wines 2013 by the distinct Wine Spectator magazine. This election dictates the Best 100 wines in the world for each year according to the wine’s identity, quality and price range.

For Boutique Wines Asia, it’s an extreme honor to have now The Best Wine in the World included in its portfolio. With already some Ribera del Duero wines, Boutique Wines Asia saw the need to provide to the Chinese costumers a vaster offer of Spanish wines. For João Gago – Managing Director of Boutique Wines Asia – “CVNE is a found treasure”, and that perfectly matches the Chinese consumers taste.

Rioja, which was named D.O.Ca. (Denominación de Origen Calificada) it’s Spain’s most notable wine region, with tradition in winemaking that dates back to many centuries ago. Besides Imperial, Boutique Wines Asia also imports other CVNE wines, like Contino, a more Chateaux-like vineyard, and Viña Real, a more vanguard and modern winery. All the wines are true representations of the Rioja region.

With the increasing consumption of wine in the Chinese Market, this is a milestone in both CVNE’s and Boutique Wines Asia’s path.

Antonutti Wine Dinner at Mercato by Jean Georges, October 18 2012

BwA hosted yesterday, October 18, an exclusive Antonutti boutique wine dinner for 20 VIP seats at Mercato, by Jean Georges, in Shanghai, China. This Italian venue is Jean Georges' most recent creation in Shanghai. Mercato brings a new variety of delicious coastal Italian cuisine, where the seafood, homemade pastas and wood-fired pizzas occupy a main role, making it the perfect place to host a Italian boutique wine dinner. The cosy environment with a breath-taking view over the Bund helped to set the perfect scenario for this refined event. Sandy Yoon, the Cuisine head Chef, prepared a tailor-made 5 course meal that was paired with five Antonutti wines.

The guests were welcomed with a glass of ANT Metodo Classico 2008, a sparkling wine with an elegant and complex fruity bouquet. The menu was composed by five surprising dishes. The starter, inspired on a sea theme, was the first delight of the guests: Kingfish Carpaccio with Seafood Salad that was paired with a great Pinot Grigio 2011. The starter was followed by thinly sliced Diver Scallops and char-grilled Octopus, served with a Vis Terrae Traminer Aromatico 2009. The evening wouldn´t have had a true Italian zest without some homemade pasta, more specifically a Rigatoni with Braised Meatballs that was served with the Refosco 2010. The main course was composed by a grilled Beef Tenderloin and served with a Vis Terrae Cabernet Sauvignon "Magnum" bottle, 2008 and 2009 vintages. The evening could not end without a special moment - guests were surprised with a unique dessert wine specially brought for the occasion from Italy by Nicola Durandi Antonutti himself. A bottle of Lindul "60 days Appasimento" 2010- a bottle not only known for its content, as well asits unique Italian illustration - a true delight of the honored guests, with a special taste and aroma of the Traminer Aromatico grape variety.

The dinner went on through the night with a joyful mood with all guests truly marveled with the food prepared by Head Chef Sandy Yoon, paired with the five boutique wines from Antonutti, together with the ANT Metodo Classico 2008 welcome drink.

Antonutti vineyards are located in Grave del Friuli in Italy, with a broad dry plain and poor stony soils ideal for vines. Back in 1921, grandfather Ignazio found the Antonutti Winery, starting the Friulian winemaking process. The foresight of his son gave way to a significant grow in the production, that was furthered and renewed continuously today by his daughter Adriana, her husband Lino and their children, Caterina and Nicola, that was present in this Wine Dinner. The wines demonstrate the strength of the territory, Friuli, and testify to the tenacity of a family history that dates back almost a century.

BwA presents an exclusive selection of wines from family-owned wineries from around the World, each one carefully chosen for being a top representative of its region and fine example of its terroir.

BwA, more than Wine, a way of living.
